Stimos Keep

Written by Marc Renouf (12 pages, COL #5787)

Stimos started as a backwater trading post and has grown into one of eastern Tharda’s most productive centers. The town is situated on the western bank of the Pech River where the estuary empties into Mettur Bay on Lake Benath; virtually all commerce with other settlements in the Republic is carried by boat across the lake. Stimos lies truly on the frontier, and most of the region is trackless woodland. It has the fewest cultivated acres of any district in Kom Province, and no roads connecting it to the rest of the province. The wealth of natural resources and rapid growth of the town over the last several decades has brought opportunity at a scale rarely seen in more settled regions of the Republic. Mining drives the district’s economy, but Stimos has also long been associated with the fur and timber trades. Fortunes can be made by those willing to brave the risks of the region’s rugged wilderness.

This article describes the settlement’s history, government, religion, economics, and military forces. It includes color GM and player maps of the settlement, detailed descriptions and floor plans for the keep, and brief descriptions of many local craftsmen and other locations of interest.

The Silver Conspiracy

Written by Marc Renouf (22 pages, COL #5795)

Silver forms the core of virtually all coinage used on Hârn. Given its economic importance, the production of silver is tightly controlled by all Hârnic governments. The Thardic Republic is no exception, but for nearly the last five decades, an elaborate conspiracy has developed to secretly mine silver and mint coinage outside the auspices of the Thardic Republic’s civic authorities. The conspiracy has made its members wealthy, and they have become increasingly ruthless about ensuring its secrecy.

The Silver Conspiracy covers three locations critical to the scheme—Hikun, Sirion, and Iracu—with color GM and player maps of each location, detailed descriptions and floor plans for key buildings, and brief descriptions of notable people.

The article also provides a detailed overview of how the conspiracy operates and GM notes for using this material to give your players a memorable adventure.

Atlas Hârnica Map H8: Yaelin Island

Map by John Southgate (COL #5000-H8)

This Atlas Hârnica map covers Yaelin, a large island in the Gulf of Chakro off Hârn’s southern coast. Yaelin has no permanent inhabitants but is visited from time to time by the Sindarin and various seafarers. An ancient legend says that Siem’s servant Sereniel forged Kethira’s moon “of the stuff of the deep Gods, beneath Yaelin Isle, and quenched it in Chakro’s Gulf.” The map also covers the western end of nearby Keboth Island.

This atlas map supplements other Columbia Games products, including Kingdom of Evael and Atlas Hârnica I8 (Keboth).

Atlas Hârnica Map I8: Keboth Island

Map by John Southgate (COL #5000-I8)

This Atlas Hârnica map covers Keboth, a large island in the Gulf of Chakro off Hârn’s southern coast. Keboth is relatively flat and amply endowed with forest and woodland. It is frequently visited by the Sindarin of the Shava Forest and deemed to be part of the Kingdom of Evael but has no permanent inhabitants. The map also covers the far western tip of Setha Heath on the Hârnic mainland.
