Columbia Games’ Combat Infantry Scenario Design Contest
Criteria
The scenarios to be submitted, for this contest, will be for the Columbia Block Wargame; Combat Infantry.
Scenarios will be judged by Columbia Games staff and other selected judges. Scenarios will be judged by the following criteria;
Tactical decisions – How well does the scenario force players to think? Does the scenario serve well to keep options open for players to mull over? Does it exploit the strength and weakness of the chosen units? How well does it stand out from a regular “throw units on the board and fight” scenario?
Historical connection / Storytelling – Does the scenario tell a good story? Does it do a good job of “suspension of disbelief” to the player? A scenario may be based on an actual battle or not. What matters is that both through reading text and gameplay, does the scenario grabs the player and plant their feet in the middle of the action?
Ease of Play – This includes being easy to set up, understand the objective and any special rules, and length of game. These scenarios should take no more than 2-3 hours to complete in general.
We will not be judging on layout or graphical design. If we can read it and easily understand it, that is what matters. This is a scenario design, not graphical design, contest. 🙂 Get your gaming caps on!
