Parios Keep is held by the Earl of Elorin, with Sir Molkin Ematha as constable. The settlement is on the east bank of the Horka River along the Genin Trail between Laket and Harden in northern Melderyn. The rugged and densely forested Anadel Highlands to the west are rich in minerals and home to tribes of the Bujoc nation. To the east and north lie the fertile plains of the Horka Valley, the heart of Elorinshire.

The town's economy is centered on the mining trade and the various crafts and workers that support it. Raw ore and smelted blooms of metal are brought from the mines by mule or cart for processing, then transferred to cargo vessels for the trip downriver to Thay. Miners come to Parios for services and supplies and to hire skilled craftsmen, mercenaries, and laborers to work at the remote mine sites.
