Rethem's tumultuous and bloody evolution from Corani imperial province to brutal feudal kingdom is reflected in the history of the Companions of Roving Doom, one of the kingdom's Agrikan fighting orders. Kings of Rethem have been known to use the order to enforce their will. From its keep at Arketh and manors in southern Rethem, the order's warriors sally forth to commit acts of brutality and intimidation in the king's name or in their own, with little heed given to the wishes of their near-extinct sponsoring clerical order, the Order of the Pillar of Fire. The order has a lesser branch in Ivinia, where they and the Pillar of Fire seek to increase their influence.
